Last month I had the privilege of finally meeting her in San Francisco during Blogherfood. She is even more wonderful, gracious, and genuine than I could have imagined. So it was with much anticipation I looked forward to her cookbook being released tomorrow. And fortunately for me as an attendee of the conference I was able to receive a preview copy.
In her cookbook “The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Recipes from an Accidental Country Girl“, readers will recognize Ree’s familiar voice of friend and coach. Each recipe in this cookbook is real country cooking in all its glory. None of the dishes are over complicated, just simple home cooking at its finest. My husband calls it “man food”. And for the record, he lives for man food! Honestly, her recipes are similar to the ones his grandma used to make for him growing up and he was very fond of Granny Gayle and her cooking. But now Granny Gayle is cooking with the angels in Heaven but her cooking lives on in our home through Ree’s cookbook.
One cannot help but imagine being transported to Ree’s Ranch when preparing and eating these dishes. Every dish has detailed step-by-step photos (tons of photos!) and instructions making it virtually impossible for home cooks to fail. The recipes are not hard to execute and many of the ingredients are items likely in your home already.
Earlier in the week I prepared Skillet Cornbread from her cookbook and it was wonderful! The recipe can be found here. Coincidentally, tomorrow is my birthday which is the official release date of Ree’s cookbook. As a pre-birthday celebration, yesterday my husband with the help of my daughters (who know how to operate my Kitchenaid) surprised me by baking Ree’s French Breakfast Puffs out of her cookbook. To some, this would not seem like a big deal, but for me it is totally a big deal! Just as an FYI, my husband does not cook or bake. You could imagine my shock when the kids brought a plate of muffins to my bed and he explained they baked these for me. They were a huge hit in our family!! If Rob can bake these, anyone can bake and cook out of this cookbook. Thank God Ree included lots of pictures to help him! On a funny note, Rob documented the whole process with my camera while I was sleeping. (Notice the kids birthday candle?!)

This cookbook is a gift of love.. from her family to yours. I would highly recommend this cookbook for anyone who loves real home cooking like chicken fried steak, buttermilk biscuits and red velvet cake. Her photos, story-telling, and recipes will make this cookbook a treasured piece in your kitchen. Get your Holiday shopping done early and order a few copies now! Perfect timing for Christmas presents!
For 1 lucky person, I am giving away a SIGNED COPY of “The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Recipes from an Accidental Country Girl“ All you have to do is leave a comment about your favorite home-style dish or why you love Ree too. US Addresses only please. Contest will close Saturday, 10/31 at 9pm PST.

I love Ree because I am 20 years old but I feel like she could be my best friend! And I have made her recipes and they are awesome!
Ree’s recipe for shortbread cookies is what got me off my duff and over my paralyzing fear of baking from scratch. She made it sound easy and hey! It totally is!
I have to say that Ree’s blog is one of the first ones I ever looked at. Someone forwarded it to me.
I’ve done some of her recipes and loved them. Her lasagna is my favorite so far. It is really good.
How fun you got to meet her. That is exciting. I’m sure you all had a blast at the convention.
Hope I win the book. I’d love it.

Besides being a great cook, Ree is a great writer. I sat and read her posts about how she met her husband and their courtship. It was fascinating. She seems like she would be a great friend.
I love Ree ’cause she’s just so dang funny. Love her Best Chocolate Sheet Cake Ever. It rocks.
I love Ree cuz I really feel like I can relate to her. I live in a distant NYC suburb and yearn to cook southern “home-cookin’” cuz it’s my grandmother’s favorite and I feel I owe it to her for all she has done for me and my sister. I have no one to teach me in person and Ree is so good at it!
OHHHH! I do love Ree. Her humor, her energy, her wisdom and talent! I couldn’t get to any of her book signings-but am so glad for her good fortune to find MM and share him and her family with the rest of the world! Her red velvet cake balls were a big hit with my family.
I really love her recipes and humor! xxgloria
Why I love Ree??? What is not to love?! She is so funny, talented, gorgeous, all without a big head complex
I LOVE The Pioneer Woman! I cannot remember how I found her but I tell all of my friends at work about her. We often make her recipes and share them with each other. I just don’t get how she does it all. She must NEVER sleep!!!
Pick me Alice, pick me. PLEASE!! What a great sounding book this is, full of moreish passion. Ree sounds like a wonderful person.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY Alice…am off to check the bread!!
(Does a US address work for the draw?)
Meatloaf, mashed potatoes and gravy…maybe some corn on the cob or creamed corn and hot buttered rolls! Oh dear, now I’m hungry!
I’ve been reading TPW for a while…She always makes me smile! I’m planning to give her cookbook to all of the women I love for Christmas this year!
I’m so excited about Ree’s cookbook! I think the thing I enjoy the most about her blog is how she makes you feel like you’re just sitting down talking to a friend. And she makes *everyone* feel like that – so welcomed and appreciated. Plus she makes me laugh, and who doesn’t want a good laugh?
I’ve learned so much from her photo tutorials, but one of my favorite PW recipes is Pasta with Vodka sauce. Or some such name – I have the recipe pretty much memorized now so I can’t remember what she calls it exactly. But it’s TUH-DIE FOR!
I love Ree because she doesn’t mind if she makes a fool of herself so we can all laugh at her!! She doesn’t know she’s my addiction!!
I absolutely love Ree and have tried a few of her recipes. One of my family’s favorite: the Black Pepper Shrimp…oh and the Raspberry Cobblers…YUM!!
Yes, I love Ree too! I stumbled upon her lovely blog a few months ago and am now a daily visitor. I love the wonderful recipes and ideas, plus her witty and personable writing style. She makes you feel like you can really do it! I’d love a copy of her cookbook!
How exciting!!! This is such a fun giveaway
My favorite home-style dish would have to be chicken and dumplings.
I love Ree because she is just so creative! Her recipes are delicious and her website is just filled with a wealth of information. She is a pure inspiration!
Ree’s Chocolate Sheet Cake is to die for! My family loves it!
My favorite recipe of hers is her Cinnamon Rolls. My (now) fiance and I made them around Christmas time last year and they were, in fact, to die for. I can’t wait to make them again this year when we’re together for the holidays.
Along with my morning cup o’ joe, I need a dose of Ree. It’s my ‘me time’ before I wake the house for the daily routine. Also my favorite Ree recipes (so far) is the Crash Hot Potatoes and Sweet Roasted Rosemary Acorn Squash… YUMMY!
I’d have to say that my favorite recipe of hers is a simple one – Welsh Rarebit. Especially when it’s cold. It’s just perfect.
She inspires me to cook all the time.
I love reading Ree’s blog! Her life looks so wonderful- and the Marlboro Man isn’t bad either! My favorite home-style meal is mac n cheese. There are so many variations of it (it must include blue cheese), and it makes good leftovers!
I love Ree! She rocks. And her Bacon Wrapped Jalepeno Thingies are amazing! So simple, but so good. They are always requested now at family get togethers
I adore Ree because of her wit, imagination, and fantastic recipes!! I’ve lost count how many times her blog has made me laugh or made me remember what’s truly important: family and friends!! I look forward to starting my day with reading her newest posts on her blog, its addictive and always teaches me something new!!
Pioneer Woman was the 1st blog I ever visited and have been hooked ever since!. Love her spicy shrimp dish.
I love reading Pioneer Woman’s blog. I had lost touch with it though until I heard about her new book. I can’t wait to try some of the recipes I have seen on her sight this week! YUMMY!
I first discovered PW’s site from a comment that someone made about her love story at another blog. I went over to Ree’s site, started reading her love story and fell in love with it. Since then, I’ve beena faithful follower of hers and have seen her blog grow into an amazing site. I’ve tried several of her recipes and my family has favorites. I like her writing style and how she comes across as someone that I already know. She’s inspiring and she is “one of the girls”. In reading several blogs, it’s nice to see the camaraderie and support you all share and I feel as if we (being the audience) get to be a part of it too. Thanks!
I always enjoy Ree’s recipes. My wife is a fan and was especially please when she was able to make Ree’s pear crisp which I devoured!
I just love Pioneer Woman’s blogspot. She is so funny. My daughter sent me to her blogspot, and now we are both faithful readers. My daughter is going to try to go to her book signing in St. Louis when she comes there. I would love to win the cookbook. Ree is a great cook and entertainer, and I love that she loves her family so much.
I love REE!! I love her sense of humor, her wholesome, humble ways, and her inner beauty. She is what I would someday like to be…when I grow up. She’s an inspiration. *Ü*
LOVE the pic of you and REE! I think the thing that I LOVE the most about REE is that she is just a normal, down to earth person. Here she has this amazing blog, now cookbook, not to mention an amazing life, yet, she is just so sweet, humble and glad to meet each and every person. Oh and she isn’t afraid to use butter
I really do admire her for all she does in life and how positive she is about everything. She is laid back, funny, and fun….I could go on for days, basically – she rocks!
I’d have to say cornbread is one of my ABSOLUTE downhome country cooking favorites especially when it is in a cast iron skillet – YUM!

I love Ree’s blog and recipes! She is so funny and her food always looks so good! She always makes everything so easy to understand!
i just love ree’s passion! For cooking, blogging, and for her family
For her amazing photography – and of course the butter!
I can’t NOT check Ree’s blog…I am addicted!!!
Lovee seeing pics of the house, the lodge and her kids!
I could eat chicken-fried steak every day of the week. Even bad chicken-fried steak. And I love Ree’s blog because of her self-depracating humor! And the pictures of cowboys.
I imagine a friendship with Ree would be a pretty goofy one, kind of like the type of friendships I had in high school! When I made the cinnamon rolls she featured on her website, my husband said unprompted, “That is the best cinnamon roll I have had in my life.” Her food is unpretentious and delicious!
Mashed potatoes are my ultimate downfall-although all of Ree’s recipes that I’ve tried have been amazing too.
I love her macaroni and cheese. I love her writing and of course the photos!
My favorite home-style dish, hands down, is mac and cheese. It’s such a good comfort food.
I like her process photos. Her blog was the first one I had ever seen with step-by-step photos, and I appreciate that extra work.
i love ree’s humor. keeps me coming back for more!
i love mac & cheese, and i love ree’s humor and was hooked reading about how she met MM. happy birthday btw, alice!

I would love to win this copy or Ree’s cookbook since it is even signed by her.
Ree has a great website, love her humor and her step by step photos! Just made her Tres Leches cake for a work potluck and everyone raved about it. Planning to tackle her cinnamon rolls next.
I love her pumpkin caramel cheesecake with ginger snap crust. I have also made Pastor Ryan’s mexican lasagna several times. Both are delicious!
Ree is awesome and I would love to own a signed copy of her book.
I love Ree because as you can relate to her. My family loves her meatball recipe. Yum!!!
I regularly make the Apple Dumplings and MM Sandwich. I love her blog because it relates to my life in many ways: loving to cook and bake, raising kids on the farm, dealing with much manure-encrusted clothing, and having cattle!
