The Pioneer Woman Cooks Cookbook Giveaway

PWCBGIVEAWAY10

I love this time of year when Christmas is in full swing. Our tree is decorated with ornaments collected through the years, mantle adorned with swags of fir, and Christmas music playing throughout our house – O Holy Night and Handel’s Messiah being my favorites.

And it is in the spirit of Christmas I am happy to announce a special giveaway on Savory Sweet Life. Ree Drummond’s cookbook, The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Recipes from an Accidental Country Girl has only been released for five weeks and has already achieved being a #1 New York Times Best Seller in its second week. Each tour stop, fans wait 5-6 hours to have their pictures taken and their books signed. I’ve even seen people tweet about these Pioneer Woman Tour t-shirts being handed out. Everyone loves Ree and I love how she loves everyone right back – including me.

In October I posted my review of “The Pioneer Woman Cooks” along with a giveaway for a signed copy.  Since then I’ve enjoyed cooking and eating our way through it with joy.  My favorite recipe so far is Rib-Eye Steak with Whiskey Cream Sauce.  I love all things Pioneer Woman – I have no shame confessing this.  Ree Drummond is an amazing woman with an incredibly generous heart.  So it’s with much excitement to announce that Savory Sweet Life in partnership with Ree, is giveaway 10 copies of The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Recipes from an Accidental Country Girl!

What is very special about this giveaway is that four of the ten copies will be given away to members or their spouses in the US Military.  I appreciate the men and women and their families who serve this country sacrificially.  My little sister will be leaving for her 2nd deployment to the Middle East in a few weeks – its to honor her I’m setting aside copies for military personnel.

To enter the giveaway just share a favorite part of Christmas or this Holiday season in the comment section.  And if you are in the US Military or married to someone in the US Military please make a note of this as well.  Giveaway is open to US mailing addresses only including Military AFO/APO boxes.

Contest will be closed 1 week from today on Friday, Dec. 11th at midnight PST.  Merry Christmas!

*Giveaway is now closed and winners have been announced here

My favorite part of the holidays is going home on a roadtrip and seeing all of my family again. I like living out of state for that reason. I get to truly enjoy them when we finally get to see each other.

Christmas used to be about getting… food (ohh, that evil fudge), presents, time off from school/work, etc. My mom, an extraordinarily generous person, raised us to give to others. But, I don’t think giving means as much in your youth. At least it didn’t for me. Life, and unfortunately age, has certainly changed my perspective on Christmas to one of giving, rather than getting. Even though I lost my job this year, I am beyond blessed. While they are crazy at times, I am fortunate to be part of a (ginormous) loving family. Caring friends are bountiful and my renewed relationship with Jesus has become paramount. Ironically, when I ran across this page, I was also working on a menu. My friends & I have decided that we will be donating our time and cooking abilities(?) monthly to the Fisher House, and organization that provides free or low cost lodging to veterans and military families receiving treatment at military medical centers. I find now, that it is opportunities like this that really awaken the Christmas spirit within me.

What Christmas represents in itself is awesome alone, but I do enjoy the lazy days with my family & friends, listening to music and laughing. It’s the best. : )

I like having all my children home at the same time. Two of the three are at university and the third just graduated, so having all of them together under my roof is just the best.

What I love about Christmas is that warm, fuzzy feeling that you just seem to inevitably get around this time of year. I don’t know what it is exactly, but no matter what, the Christmas cheer, gift giving, and best of all getting together with loved ones and family to share a meal together, unwrap presents, and sit around the fire drinking egg nog is always an unforgettable experience for me.

My favorite memory growing up is helping my mother and grandmother cook in the kitchen. As I got older, my responsibilities grew, and now I am in charge of Christmas dinner, and my mother and grandmother get to sit back and relax. It would be so exciting if I could share new recipes to my family from “The Pioneer Woman Cooks” and possibly pass them along to become a Christmas tradition!

My absolute favorite part of Christmas is having my family put on their pjs and pop a huge pot of popcorn. But we don’t watch a movie, we all head to the car and put in a cd of Christmas Music and drive around town looking at Christmas lights. If I’m feeling really joyful, I even let the kids bring hot chocolate!

My favorite part of the holidays is making personal handcrafted little gifts for friends and family. Then gently wrapping it with beautiful holiday vintage paper and delivering the festive gift with hugs and kisses. It makes my holidays so grateful and blessed that I have that special person in my life.

Decorating the Christmas tree, playing Christmas songs, wrapping gifts and baking is what makes the holidays enjoyable. I love to take pictures too which makes the holidays memorable so we can always look back to see what we did that year and keep them in our hearts.

My favorite part of the holidays was always my mom’s yearly fudge making. She has the most amazing chocolate peanut butter budge recipe. When I moved to college and wasn’t home for when she was making the fudge, I decided I would make it myself and share it with friends and co-workers. It is such a hit wherever I take it. My boss at work actually calls it the magic fudge because it made her migraine disappear. I love giving and cooking at Christmas. This fudge just always makes me feel like the holidays are here.

My favorite part of the holiday is having a mini family reunion with out of area family. Last year we had 28 people! 15 of whom are too far away or in the military (my cousin) and I don’t see very often. I also love baking with my neices and soon to be step daughter. Such a wonderful time of year!! My fiancé is currently in the Reserves with the Air Force. I too have so much respect and love for the military!

Christmas for me has become a time when opportunities exist to hang out with good friends, sit and enjoy each others company. Sadly, it’s also a time when I remember that I’m here on my own and unable to return to spend some time with my family and childhood friends across the ocean to enjoy their company.

My favorite part is that it doesn’t matter how rich or poor you at this time…that you can STILL have a WONDERFUL Christmas having only 1 present, and not even under a tree. The happiness that comes from christmas lights and the music brings warmth into your soul..this is my favorite part!
