I heart The Pioneer Woman…. I really do. What’s not to love? She bakes a mean Texas sheet cake, her cinnamon rolls are legendary, and I’ve heard her sangria is so good yet packs a punch after one glass. So it was no surprise but VERY EXCITINGx10 to hear that celebrity chef and Food Network star, Bobby Flay, challenged our beloved Pioneer Woman to a Thanksgiving Throwdown ,which was filmed at her ranch.
When I heard this news I was sitting on my couch having a rather uneventful day working on a blog post when I read (via Twitter) a commercial was airing on the Food Network station promoting the Bobby Flay vs. The Pioneer Woman Thanksgiving Throwdown. Like a defibrillator to my chest, it awoke me from my bored comatose state and I posted this tweet..
In my excitement shortly after posting this, I asked Ree if she wouldn’t mind me organizing a live watch party via Twitter for all of us #TeamRee fans. I am happy to announce that on November 17 at 8pm Central Time Zone (9pm PST/EST), Ree will be watching the Thanksgiving Throwdown episode with her family but will also be on Twitter.
I realize that because of multiple time zones and the airing of this episode at different times people on the East Coast will have seen the entire episode before those of us on the West Coast. The live Twitter party will go on as scheduled. Regardless of who you want to win, we will be using the hashtags #TeamREE , #TeamBOBBY , and/or #Throwdown.
A live watch party wouldn’t be complete without t-shirts and food. So please accept this virtual t-shirt on behalf of #TeamRee. <Update> @TheNoshery just set it up so you can overlay your Twitter avatar with this t-shirt! Details on how to do this can be found here.
As for the menu, I invite you to make your favorite recipe from either The Pioneer Woman Cooks cookbook or from The Pioneer Woman Cooking site. I’m sure you’ll find a recipe or two (or three, or ten) you’ll want to make Wednesday night as all of America cheers Ree on.
I’m thinking about making this Braised Ribs with Goat Cheese Polenta recipe I found at TPW Cooking site. What will you be making? If you need more cooking inspiration, don’t forget the gazillion user-submitted recipes from the PW Tasty Kitchen site, too!
Whether you are for Team Ree or Team Bobby, Wednesday evening is going to be a fun and delicious night!
Both Mr. Bobby Flay and Mrs. Ree Drummond can be found on Twitter at:
You can find me on Twitter @SavorySweetLife the night of the Thanksgiving Throwdown.
Lastly, in the spirit of fun competition -I’m going to give a prize to two people. Each winner will get to pick their choice of:

Bobby Flay’s Throwdown!: More Than 100 Recipes from Food Network’s Ultimate Cooking Challenge
The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Recipes from an Accidental Country Girl
The Pioneer Woman: Black Heels to Tractor Wheels–A Love Story (book is available for pre-order but will not arrive until Feb. 2011)
All you need to do is RSVP in the comments below to Wednesday night’s party by telling me which team you’re on or perhaps your favorite Bobby Flay or PW recipe. You don’t actually need to attend the party to win.. but if you do plan on joining us, leave your Twitter handle too! I’ll pick two winners Wednesday – Nov. 17 at 9 pm PST when the show airs in Seattle. <<UPDATE – Winners>> Congrats to @dawdawsmom and @marybethhunt!
Disclosure: No one asked or paid me to do this. I’m doing this because I love Ree and it’s SO EXCITING to watch her “throwdown” against Bobby Flay. Prizes are provided by me. Just so you know… I am also a contributor on Tasty Kitchen but I would have gladly done this anyway if I weren’t. Amen.

Hi there!
I really enjoyed the show and congratulations!! I was wondering if you happened to have a copy of the Thanksgiving quiz that was done at the beginning of the show. I didn’t think to write it down at the time, but I thought it was really cute and I’d like to share it on thanksgiving..I’d be really grateful for any help you could give ! Thanks and happy thanksgiving!
Ellen
Hi Ellen: I’m sorry.. I don’t’ have a copy of it. Happy Thanksgiving.
Loved the Throwdown between Bobby and Ree. I didn’t know much about “the pioneer woman” except that I saw a few of the episodes of her show on the Food Network. Both their turkey recipes seem awesome. I will probably try Bobby’s – for one reason, because I don’t own a pot big enough to put the turkey in like Ree did. I agree potatoes are a must at Thanksgiving (my grown kids would cry without my mashed taters, which I believe could compete with Ree’s). But I also always make brussel sprouts (a recipe where they are coated in a tangy hot bacon/vinegar dressing).
TeamRee I like her Chicken spaghetti and Ranch casserole recipe. She cooks Southern !
