There is a measure of giddiness I feel when a new cookbook arrives on my doorstep, especially when I know the author’s style of cooking and philosophy is similar to mine. I just can’t wait to start cooking from it! A few weeks ago Sterling Epicure (Sterling Publishing) sent me a review copy of Cristina Ferrare’s Big Bowl of Love: Delight Family and Friends with More than 150 Simple, Fabulous Recipes and it is a wonderful collection of recipes everyday home cooks will appreciate.
Earlier in the week I prepared her Grilled Asparagus with Balsamic Vinegar and it was so easy and so delicious! The great thing about this cookbook is so many recipes are practical for feeding families with an elevated touch of class! It is so refreshing when a celebrity cook, like Cristina, keeps it real with great home meals everyone can appreciate. If she’s good enough for Oprah and her own show on the OWN Network, she is certainly good enough for my kitchen.
Photographed by my friends Todd and Diane, this cookbook is not only a feast for the the eyes, it truly is a Big Bowl of Love as the title says. The recipes range from very simple to intermediate but never crazy over the top. Cristina’s recipes are family-friendly, perfect for weeknights, weekends, and entertaining friends – very Ina Garten like.
For one reader Cristina and her publisher are giving away a copy.
