One-Bite Chocolate Cherry Poppers

by Alice Currah on July 25, 2013

Every night I eat a piece of good quality chocolate before going to bed.  It’s just what I do.  But this summer’s cherry season has me switching it up just ever so slightly.  A few weeks ago I drizzled dark chocolate over pitted red cherries as a late night dessert snack.  I wanted to enjoy the cherries fully with the chocolate as a secondary companion flavor note. Once I did this and refrigerated the cherries there was no going back.  This would become my go-to summer dessert as a treat to myself.  But no… my kids were having none of that.  In fact, as soon as I would make a batch they would gobble them up so quickly I couldn’t make them fast enough.  They are that good.

Today I posted my method on how to make these Chocolate Cherry Poppers.  Sometimes it’s the most simplest of recipes that I end up enjoying the most.  This one is no exception.  Right now red sweet cherries are on sale all over the place.  If you’re looking for a healthy dessert treat that feels a little indulgent, make these poppers.  You will be so happy you did.  Enjoy!

Those remind me of the miracle pills on The Princess Bride.

. . . and I think I need to adopt your habit of a piece of chocolate every night.

These look so good and perfect for a party. Love that they are baked too. Much easier than frying!
