We are finishing up our final Christmas giveaway with an awesome 5 1/2 cup Zojirushi Umami Micom Rice Cooker (value $273). Zojirushi is known for their high quality kitchen appliances, especially rice cookers. They are considered the best rice cookers on the market because of their intuitive technology which makes perfect rice every single time.
The Zojirushi rice cooker not only makes great rice, it has multiple unique settings that go far and beyond what other cookers can do. The Zojirushi rice cooker soaks and steams the rice longer for enhanced flavor, which releases the natural sugar in the rice grains resulting in a noticeably different flavor compared to cooking on a regular setting. As the rice cooks, the rice cooker adjusts the temperature and cooking time so the rice is always perfect. This is not the case with most other rice cookers on the market.
The cooker also has different settings for cooking different types of grains or rice (white, Umami, mixed, sushi, porridge, sweet, brown, GABA brown, rinse-free, quick cooking and slow cook). This rice maker also doubles as a slow cooker making it a dual purpose appliance. It’s also small enough to store in a kitchen cupboard or left on the kitchen counter without taking up too much space. [click to continue…]

When we moved to our new house a few months ago I received the 9 1/2″ and the 12 1/2″ 3-ply stainless steel non-stick pans from Le Creuset which I use multiple times daily. These pans replaced some inexpensive non-stick pans I had been using for a year. The problem with my older pans was the non-stick coating began showing wear only a couple months of having used them. The cooking surface was problematic and compromised.
I noticed immediately from the moment I started using the Le Creuset pans how durable they were. First of all, I could tell by the feel and weight of the pans that they were made with high quality in mind. Secondly, the non-stick coating is superior to anything I’ve ever used previously. For three months I have used these pans almost exclusively over my other cookware in order to test them for review. I kid you not, these pans are awesome. I love them and have no hesitation recommending them. [click to continue…]

FACT -I love Seattle’s vibrant food scene. With its eclectic whole-in-the-wall mom and pop restaurants, trendy food trucks, and amazing fine dining establishments, there is no shortage of places to eat around the city. As someone who really enjoys eating out, I’m always eager to try a new place to eat especially when it comes recommended by trusted friends who are passionate about food. So, when my good friend, Keren Brown, recently published her debut book, the “Food Lovers’ Guide to Seattle: Best Local Specialties, Markets, Recipes, Restaurants & Events” -I knew it would be well received as a trusted source of where to eat all over Seattle.
I first met Keren three years ago at a celebrity dinner event and since then, we’ve become close friends. She is an authoritative and trusted voice, and a respective figure in the restaurant and food community. She knows how to connect food enthusiasts with one another and hosts networking parties and workshops through her Foodportunity events. [click to continue…]

Knowing today would be the beginning of a new chapter for Ree and her family, I couldn’t help but feel happy for the Drummonds once The Pioneer Woman show aired. There is something very special about celebrating “firsts” of new beginnings. To celebrate for them and with them was a gift in itself to many of Ree’s friends, fans, and readers which I am very grateful to have been a part of.
It has been so much fun to share with you both joy and excitment as we counted down the days until the show’s premier. I loved reading stories during our Facebook Discussion on how fans met Ree at book signings or as a guest at her ranch. Reading supportive tweets on Twitter and comments on Savory Sweet Life fostered a sense of community. By sending our best wishes and thoughts to Ree, we were able to cheer her on and show our support in this new chapter of her life, which I know she appreciated so much. [click to continue…]
