PWCooksWinnersThanks to everyone who entered this special The Pioneer Woman Cooks Christmas giveaway.  I loved reading how each and everyone of you celebrate Christmas.  I had every intention of posting the winners Saturday but because of my trip to NYC this was not realistic.  In fact I just arrived home about an hour ago from the airport – it’s 2:45 am.  Without further ado here are the winners chosen by random.org: [click to continue…]

PWCBGIVEAWAY10

I love this time of year when Christmas is in full swing. Our tree is decorated with ornaments collected through the years, mantle adorned with swags of fir, and Christmas music playing throughout our house – O Holy Night and Handel’s Messiah being my favorites.

And it is in the spirit of Christmas I am happy to announce a special giveaway on Savory Sweet Life. Ree Drummond’s cookbook, The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Recipes from an Accidental Country Girl has only been released for five weeks and has already achieved being a #1 New York Times Best Seller in its second week. Each tour stop, fans wait 5-6 hours to have their pictures taken and their books signed. I’ve even seen people tweet about these Pioneer Woman Tour t-shirts being handed out. Everyone loves Ree and I love how she loves everyone right back – including me. [click to continue…]

Giveaway

{Photo collage of recipes our  family has made from PW’s cookbook- including: Skillet Cornbread, Perfect Pot Roast, PW’s Creamy Mashed Potatoes, and French Breakfast Puffs}

First of all, THANK YOU for everyone who stopped by to read my review of “The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Recipes from an Accidental Country Girl” and entered for a chance to win a signed copy.  I was blown away but not the least bit surprised to read how much Ree enriches the lives of others.  As I read through each comment I identified with every person and their reason(s) for why Ree is so special.  Clearly she has a gift with words and people.   She is more than The Pioneer Woman.  She is a woman who passionately shares her life in the most profound way.. impacting and blessing the lives of millions daily.  How can one not love her?  Can I get an Amen?! (Pretty sure I’m already preaching to the choir.) [click to continue…]

Yesterday I posted my review of Ree Drummond’s cookbook,”The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Recipes from an Accidental Country Girl” officially being released today.  (Yay REE!!!)

Today I would like to share with you her recipe for “Skillet Cornbread”.  I made this a few days ago and with as much enthusiasm as I can muster, can I just say.. OH MY WORD!?!

Ree’s cornbread is simple, honest, and comforting.  It’s what I call a “generational” recipe.   In other words, it would not surprise me if this recipe was passed down from generations gone by and is intended to be passed on to generations to come. [click to continue…]

Like millions of others out there, I love Ree Drummond a.k.a “The Pioneer Woman”.  Her ability to share her writing and giftings with the world in such an authentic manner is why I love and admire her so much. She is humble, funny, and generous and it shows in her blog. I’ve always appreciated how she comes along side her readers giving them the encouragement they need to learn something as if she is your dearest friend and biggest cheerleader. She is for them, she is for me. Never does she speak down to her readers with a voice of “expert” but as one who passionately loves to share the good things in life with her audience.
