Easy Pico De Gallo Recipe

Last update: July 18, 2016 By Alice Currah 28 Comments

[donotprint] I used to buy fresh pico de gallo at our local grocery store until I read the ingredients label and discovered it was pretty easy to make at home.  In fact, all you need are a few ingredients chopped up and voila, you have pico de gallo.

We love to eat pico de gallo with tacos, on chicken, scrambled eggs, and of course… tortilla chips!  Enjoy! [/donotprint]

Pico De Gallo Recipe

Ingredients:

4 ripe tomatoes, seeded and chopped coarsely ( I like vine-ripened tomatoes)

1 med-large onion, chopped coarsely

1 jalapeno, seeded and chopped finely (be careful to wash your hands well after handling jalapenos)

1/2 cup cilantro, chopped

salt and pepper to taste

Juice of 1 lime

Directions:

Gently combine all the ingredients in a medium bowl.  Allow the salsa to rest for 10 minutes before serving. Enjoy!

Try adding some chopped cucumbers to the pico de gallo. The cucumbers make store bought salsa seem fresh and delicious.

Hey this looks delicious, and i’m looking at it for the guacamole. Except what is cilantro? Is it like, parsley or something.

pico de gallo IS easy, and SOOO good. You can amp up the lime or down the chili and it’s always so fresh, home-made. Lovely shot.

Oh yum! My local Mexican restaurant makes it with some chopped cabbage too…I think it helps “extend” it and makes it yummy tasting too! Thanks for your recipe…lovely pictures too!

It is really easiest recipe yet! I think that is the best way to have chips, once you have chips like that it is hard to go back to buying them at the store. Try them jasmine tea my personal favorite.

    Best Regards,

Beautiful recipe, but am I crazy or is there a tomato fake-out in that top-left halved-tomato photo? Those look like cherry tomatoes, while the photo above is definitely vine. Creative editing 🙂

For some reason tacos come to mind. Maybe because I’m hungry. Pass a bowl my way would ya.
