Fried Egg Basil BLT Sandwich

A flavorful take on the BLT sandwich.
Ingredients
  • 1 white bread roll (hamburger or Kaiser)
  • 2 teaspoons mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
  • 1½ teaspoons dill relish (unsweetened) or thinly sliced dill pickles
  • 4 butter lettuce leaves
  • 3 medium tomato slices approx. ⅛-inch thick
  • 2 cooked thick cut bacon slices
  • 1 runny fried egg
  • Salt and pepper
  • 5 large fresh basil leaves
Instructions
  1. Lightly spray a non-stick pan and heat it to medium high heat.
  2. Cut the bun in half, horizontally. With the cut side down, toast the bun in the pan for a minute - carefully checking half way through to make sure it doesn't burn.
  3. Remove the bun from the pan. Spread a teaspoon of mayonnaise on each half of the bun.
  4. On the bottom half, evenly spread the mustard.
  5. On the top half, evenly spread the relish.
  6. Place the bottom bun half on a plate with the cut side up. Layer the sandwich with the lettuce first, followed by the tomato slices, bacon, and fried egg.
  7. Season the egg with salt and pepper.
  8. Finish the sandwich off by placing the basil on top of the egg then topping the sandwich off with the top half of the bun.
