I love insalata caprese salad. I love everything about it, from the vibrant colors of each ingredient to how each element comes together for a delicious dish. Best of all is how simple this is to make but yet is stunning to look at when plated. Those are my favorite types of dishes to prepare! There is something deeply satisfying when I can create something at home in a few minutes yet feel like I’ve ordered it from a restaurant! I repeat what I said from the beginning… I love insalata caprese salad. I think you will too. Enjoy!

Insalata Caprese Salad / a.k.a. Tomato, Basil, Mozzarella Salad

Ingredients:
Plum or Vine-Ripened Tomatoes, sliced
Fresh Mozzarella Cheese, sliced
Fresh Basil Leaves
Olive Oil
Balsamic Vinegar or *Balsamic Vinegar Reduction
Salt and Pepper

Directions:
Layer sliced tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, and basil leaves on a platter. Repeat. Drizzle olive oil and balsamic vinegar / balsamic reduction over your salad. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper. Enjoy!

*Balsamic Brown Sugar Reduction Recipe
1 cup balsamic vinegar and 1/2 cup of packed brown sugar

Directions:

Cook the vinegar/brown sugar mixture down on med-high heat until it is reduced by half, approximately 3 minutes. Remove from heat and allow to cool before serving.

One of my favorites! Absolutely beautiful pictures!

I usually drizzle mine w/ plain Balsamic, but the reduction sounds wonderful. I will give that a try next time!

Wow, what a beautiful picture! I almost only blog about baked goods, my excuse being it’s hard to take a pretty picture of a salad, but I could sink my fork right into my monitor when I look at your picture!
