About Alice

Hello, my name is Alice.  I’m the cook, baker, writer, and photographer of SavorySweetLife.com.  I love my family, drink way too much coffee, and keep a secret stash of chocolate hidden from my children like every good mommy does.  I’ve been married to Rob  for 11 years and have three of the greatest children (Abbi-10, Mimi-9, and Eli-3) a mother could ever have hoped for.  Each day I manage our household as a stay-at-home mom.  On any given day you can find me  shuttling my kids to and from school, sports practices, and cooking up recipes to share with you.  After everyone has gone to bed, I am often working on blog related things until the wee hours of the morning munching on snacks I probably shouldn’t be.  You should also know I have a personal blog called Everyday Alice.  You won’t find recipes there but you will find a word of encouragement from musings about life, parenting, and self-reflections through a faith perspective.

Converse Shoe Cake for my nephew, Isaiah

I started this blog as a creative outlet and an expression of many things I enjoyed most in life:  food, photography, and most importantly sharing with others.  When it comes to the recipes on Savory Sweet Life, I prefer to keep it simple, approachable, yet wonderful to eat and enjoy with others.  I launched Savory Sweet Life the last week of February of 2009 and since then my life has never been the same (press mentions).  Two of my blogging career highlights happened in March 2010 when Forbes.com named me as one of “Eight Of The Very Best Bloggers” and shortly after I won Saveur.com’s first ever “Photo Cover Contest.” I love what I do and deeply appreciate everyone who has supported me along the way and continues to do so!

You can also find me writing as a weekly contributor for PBS Parents Kitchen Explorers as well as a regular contributor for The Pioneer Woman’s Tasty Kitchen Blog.

Littlest Petshop Birthday Cake

Prior to having children I worked in the design and food service industry.  My background in 3D animation and restaurant experience eventually led me to start my own wedding cake business. Although I no longer do wedding cakes anymore, I still bake and decorate birthday cakes for each of my children.

Find me on Twitter: @SavorySweetLife and on Savory Sweet Life’s Facebook Fan page.

If you are a PR company, please understand I will only consider (and not guarantee) product reviews and promotional events which fit within the spirit and character of Savory Sweet Life as well as my personal taste.  If you do not hear back from me within 2 days, please consider this a kind decline of your request.  Thank you!

Hi Alice,

Hi Alice,
Last night I was looking for a butter cream frosting and I came across your website it is an awesome site and your butter cream frosting is the best. My husband said it was the best he ever ate. Which is good because it is going on his birthday cake. I know that I will be returning to this website many times.
Thank You for taking your time for me……

Hi Alice
I stumbled upon you by accident. I first bought your cookbook and fell in love with it a week ago. It truly is fantastic. I read it cover to cover. Your chapter introductions, as well as, the little “stories” before each recipe are beautiful. I can feel the heart behind each one of your dishes. I am so glad I unintentionally stumbled upon your cooking world. Thanks for sharing your love!

Hi Alice,

Just made your clams in white wine and butter…. sooo delicious and simple. It was the first time I’d made clams and it was your enthusiasm that made me brave to try it. Now, I know how simple it is to make.

Btw, love your biz name!

Thanks, Holly

Hi Alice – I came across your site while looking for frosting recipes, and I can’t wait to try yours. Any advice on making them without milk or cream? My husband is lactose intolerant, although butter doesn’t seem to bother him. I’m thinking of swapping out the dairy milk ingredients for soy milk, but not sure if that will work or if it will be better to do it with the chocolate or vanilla buttercream recipes.

Thanks!

Julie
