Hi, welcome to Savory Sweet Life! My name is Alice Currah and I am the cook, baker, writer, photographer, and publisher of this site.
I started this site in 2009 and since then I’ve written a cookbook, SAVORY SWEET LIFE: 100 Simply Delicious Recipes for Every Family Occasion (William Morrow/HarperCollins), write a weekly food column for PBS Parents ,and host a cooking series on the PBS Digital Studios network featuring great food and authentic interactions from a 3 generational Korean-American family.
I love my family – they are my absolute priority in life, drink way too much coffee, and keep a secret stash of chocolate (the good stuff!) hidden from my children like every smart mom does. I’ve been married to Rob for 15 years and have three great kids (Abbi-14, Mimi-12, and Eli-7) I have the privilege of being a mother to. On any given day you can find me shuttling my kids to and from school, coaching sports practices, and cooking up recipes to share with you. I love the Seahawks, technology, traveling, food culture, eating out with friends, exercising, and quiet meditation through prayer and reflection (Jer. 29:11).
I started this blog as a creative outlet and an expression of many things I enjoyed most in life: food, photography, and most importantly sharing with others. When it comes to the recipes on Savory Sweet Life, I prefer to keep it simple, approachable, yet wonderful to eat and enjoy with others. I launched Savory Sweet Life the last week of February of 2009 and since then my life has never been the same. Two of my blogging career highlights happened in March 2010 when Forbes.com named me as one of “Eight Of The Very Best Bloggers” and shortly after I won Saveur.com’s first ever Photo Cover Contest.
The blog has allowed me to travel the world and experience amazing and awesome adventures. I am an Advisory Board Member to One.org’s ONE Girls and Women and Girls chapter believing every voice matters in the fight against extreme global poverty. I also judge food competitions including the 1 Million Dollar Pillsbury Bake-Off, State Blue Ribbon competitions, and travel with clients for media trips and food adventures.
I am always open to working with great clients to partner with and am comfortable on camera as well as behind for video and media appearances.
I love what I do and deeply appreciate everyone who has supported me along the way and continues to do so!
