Stuffed French Toast

I must have been living on a different planet because up until this week I’ve never had stuffed French toast.  You may be reading this wondering, “So what?  What’s the big deal?”  I’ll tell you what the big deal is:  I am a self professing lover of all things French toast and this recent discovery was a revelation to me (cue in the dramatic music).   How is it possible I have never tried this amazing variation of one of my most favorite foods?  I tell you, it’s a great mystery.  If you love French toast like I do, you are going to love this recipe!
But here’s the deal.  The recipe isn’t here.  It’s somewhere else, somewhere special.  I’ll give you a clue……

I found you via The Pioneer Woman. Just checked out your tutorial on making buttercream pansies (with your sister). Wonderful! Exactly what I needed to know. Next time I make cupcakes I’m going to try it. Do you use gel paste — which I don’t have, but could go and buy — or is it OK to use the liquid McCormick drops I buy at the supermarket?

What is it about spring that brings out the breakfast baking in so many of us? This looks awesome, Alice. I love the sweet shot of all your ingredients laid out…was looking for something to bring over to my mom’s for mother’s day this weekend. Wonder if this would travel well in the car for a half hour or so??

Wow, those look so much better than the stuffed french toast at IHOP, that’s for sure. Thank you for the tip on grilling fish to prevent sticking! I am looking forward to trying your recipes.

During the weekends…Breakfast or if the meal is big enough…Brunch…is quite a big deal. Hubby and I take turns treating ourselves to wonderful dishes. We’ve made French toast in many ways…especially stuffed! Unlike your very interesting recipe (which I’ve taken note of to impress Hubby with next time)…I make a spirited (in other words-boozy) buttery flavoured fruit stovetop mix to accomodate the baked French toast.
In conclusion…these toasts, especially accompanied with quality maple syrup…will go a long way to starting our day off right on the weekends;)
