front cover of Blog-Aid Recipes for Haiti cookbook
Julie Van Rosendaal (@dinnerwithjulie ) is an amazing woman. Within three weeks she miraculously put together a (fundraising) cookbook with 100% of the proceeds going towards the Haiti relief efforts. I am happy to announce Julie’s compassionate vision became reality today. This gorgeous cookbook went on sale this morning and already has raised over $20,000 (with matching contributions by West Canadian Graphics, Blurb, and the Canadian government) to be donated to Red Cross and Doctors Without Borders.
Twenty-seven chefs, food writers, and bloggers (myself included) contributed 72 recipes and beautiful photos for “Blog Aid – Recipes For Haiti Cookbook” which is available for purchase in hardcover ($50 US) or softcover ($25 US). [click to continue…]

Like millions of others out there, I love Ree Drummond a.k.a “The Pioneer Woman”. Her ability to share her writing and giftings with the world in such an authentic manner is why I love and admire her so much. She is humble, funny, and generous and it shows in her blog. I’ve always appreciated how she comes along side her readers giving them the encouragement they need to learn something as if she is your dearest friend and biggest cheerleader. She is for them, she is for me. Never does she speak down to her readers with a voice of “expert” but as one who passionately loves to share the good things in life with her audience. As an FYI, if you are looking for the Sesame Broccoli Recipe pictured, go directly to the bottom of the post.
This has been a great week for SavorySweetLife.com. On Sunday, I was one of the Tasting Panelist for the 2009Seattle Luxury Chocolate Salon sampling an insane amount of artisan chocolate from around the country. Then on Monday, Jaden Hair of SteamyKitchen.com featured one of my recipes on tv and on her blog. If that wasn’t cool enough, I am being featured in an interview for CafeMom.com today. If you’re unfamiliar with CafeMom, they are the largest community for moms AND women’s/parenting site on the internet surpassing iVillage, Babycenter, and MarthaStewart.com. So it really is an honor to be interviewed by them. If you would like to see more of my kitchen and family (yes the picture above are of my adorable daughters), you can read the interview here. And before you go, please keep reading the rest of this post to see how you can win a copy of “Too Many Cooks” by Emily Franklin as well as a small gift card to Starbucks. Thank you to everyone who participated. A winner has been selected! [click to continue…]
