Chocolate Covered Ghost Pretzel Rods

Last update: July 15, 2016 By Alice Currah 31 Comments

Take a good look at these adorable chocolate covered ghost pretzels.  Aren’t they cute?  Not only are they fun to look at, these pretzels are super easy to make in no time.  I was inspired to create these sweet and salty treats for today’s PBS Parents Kitchen Explorers post on “Creative Halloween Snacks and Treats” article.  I wanted to come up with a homemade treat which kids could easily help make or do completely themselves.

The only ingredients you need is chocolate candy coating, pretzel rods, and an edible ink marker found at local baking and craft stores.  I’ve included instructions on how to make these and have featured several other fantastic, creative ideas from around the blogosphere to help inspire you for your upcoming Halloween.  So jump over to PBS Parents Kitchen Explorers and share your ideas or comment on the ones I posted.  We love hearing from you!

I made these this weekend for the grandkids. They were really easy to make, and turned out super cute. I think your faces turned out much better. I used a small tube of black Wilton decorating gel, which was a little sticky. I used the end of my white chocolate to drizzle horizontal lines to simulate mummy wrappings. Thanks for such a fun idea. Jonah & Lilly are going to love these. To see how mine turned out, you can go to:

Thanks everyone for your sweet comments. This is one of those projects where parents are glad to be able to make something with homemade flare in packaged food quickness.

Nanabread: I love your mummy sticks. So creative!

Hi Alice! Super cute idea. I can’t wait to do these with my son, I love him helping me in the kitchen and telling him all about food, even though he’s a bit young now (just turned 2) 🙂
