Six months is a LONG time to keep a secret as big as this. But alas, the time has come when I can officially share with you a very big and exciting announcement. PBS Parents is launching a new food blog on their site today called Kitchen Explorers. My co-contributor, Aviva Goldfarb, and I will be writing weekly for this new site. The Kitchen Explorers site is beautiful and it is my sincere hope you’ll enjoy it as much as I do.
Working for PBS is truly wonderful and a blessing. Growing up my parents, siblings, and I depended on PBS for quality television programming for children such as Sesame Street, The Electric Company, Mr. Rogers, and my personal favorite 3-2-1 Contact. We were never cable subscribers and PBS was the only trusted station my parents would let us watch in the mornings. As a young child I would love watching the cooking shows on Saturdays during the day. I had no idea what the hosts were cooking but I remember wishing I could eat whatever it was they prepared. Even now I’m still not a cable subscriber and PBS is the only station my kids watch. Eli loves Sesame Street and Elmo. Abbi and Mimi love The Electric Company and The Cat in the Hat shows. And every once in awhile I still watch a cooking show. PBS has been growing with our family over generations and I find it a bit ironic but exciting that I am their new food writer for the PBS Parents site.
If you are the parent, grandparent, or guardian of children between the ages of 2-10 yrs. old, I invite you to participate in our community there. Each week we will be posting new recipes, tips, and articles to help you and your family in the kitchen. We will also be asking for community participation and be using your comments and suggestions on future posts. So come by and take a look at the new PBS Parents Kitchen Explorers site and tell me what you think. I would love to hear from you!

I will be checking out the site for sure, as my three year old is a PBS Kid! She is just beginning to show some interest in being in the kitchen with me, so this could not be better timing.

So happy and excited for you! I don’t have kids, but I’ll be checking it out anyway. It’ll give me some great ideas when I’m cooking and baking for our friends’ kids!

Congratulations! I completely share your feelings on PBS. I grew up on it, and it’s the only TV my kids watch. I contribute every year because my kids learn so much from PBS Kids shows.
I love the look and premise of the new blog. I don’t like the 200 character limit on the comments. I’m not long-winded in my comments, but I do frequently have more than 200 characters to contribute! 🙂

FANTASTIC! I grew up with PBS and now, my daughter loves PBS, too.
This is a great site and I hope to see allergy friendly recipes [peanuts!] and even kiddie cooks, too! My daughter has her own ice cream recipe. It’s her homemade Honey Vanilla Bean Ice Cream with graham cracker streusel topping. Oh yes!
Congratulations to You, your career and family for such a blessing of an opportunity. Cheers!
