Cooking with kids in the kitchen is a wonderful way to spend time together. This recipe for almond cranberry granola Eli and I made is not only healthy but simple to prepare, even for young preschool aged children. I love homemade granola for several reasons. Oats are very inexpensive and making granola is a fraction of the the cost than the store bought variety. By making your own granola, you can swap out the fix-ins based on your preferences. And finally, I love the taste of homemade granola. There is a beautiful homeyness to it all which feeds my soul in a comforting way.
So hop over to PBS Parents Kitchen Explorers to read more about my time preparing this granola with my son and for the recipe. Would love to hear from you here and there!
I was just in the process of making some granola when I said, “let me check out Alice’s site. I haven’t been on it in forever.” And behold- I see this lovely recipe for Almond cranberry granola! I think I’ll go with this recipe. Thank you once again for another amazing recipe! I’ll tell you how it goes. 🙂
At May Cookie Co. we totally agree that cooking with kids is not only fun, but also develops important bonds and is a great way to slip in some tips on healthy eating. I’m a huge granola fan, too, and yours looks absolutely yummy. Have fun!

Homemade granola is better for so many reasons. I also like that you can control how toasty you make it. Looks like so much fun creating this with your little guy, precious time together 🙂
How cute! I love baking with my nephews, they love to decorate sugar cookies for every season. Homemade granola is healthy, inexpensive and simply delicious.
Alice, Wow! What a beautiful photo of that granola! And the pictures of your son are so sweet! I, too, have my boys in the kitchen with me all the time (sometimes more successfully than others ;0) )

Great shots of your little one, and the granola looks so delicious. I find myself turning to granola more and more, it is also great for a take along snack. Thanks for sharing.
I wish I could get my kids on board with granola. The closest I come is the occasional granola bar, but only the store-bought kind. : (
