Last year during this time I made a New Year’s resolution to start blogging. My son was only 8 months old and I was in desperate need of a creative outlet. I was so busy caring for my husband and three children that I lost myself. The last 8 years have been devoted to raising my kids and supporting their activities and I needed to have something for myself, so I started this blog as therapy. This blog would be for me; my slice of personal domain where I could do all the things I enjoyed doing in the quietness of the night after everyone went to bed. This is how Savory Sweet Life was born. I felt so much joy doing all the things I love to do: photography, design, cooking, baking, and sharing with others in a tangible way. I’ve loved the challenge of learning new things and also discovered I did like blogging. I’ve come to love all the perks that come with it: community, social networking, friendships, and a sense of joy knowing people have enjoyed my site and recipes. It is this same enthusiasm that I look forward to carrying into 2010. I have no idea what is in store for me but I plan on continuing to do what I’ve been doing and enjoy the ride. Savory Sweet Life has always been, and will continue to be, a resource of trusted recipes I enjoy making for my family and friends. Perhaps each post is light on narrative because writing was not something I ever set out to do. Instead I wanted to share with you, my friends, all the food I love to eat with photos to help you along the way.
I appreciate all the wonderful comments and emails that share your stories, adaptations, and encouragement. Although I may not reply to every comment made on the blog, I want you to know I read every one of them and they truly bring joy to my day. Thank you for supporting Savory Sweet Life. If it weren’t for you I would never have discovered all the joy this blog brings to me and my family.
And it is in the spirit of growing that I am announcing the launch of a second blog: EverydayAlice.com. A few months ago I realized as much as I love sharing all things food with the world, I want to share other things I enjoy too. Everyday Alice will be more personal; a place you can come to get to know me more. A place I can share with you things I like, the people I love, and stories of life as it happens. I do hope you’ll stop by and say hello.
Thank you for all your support this year. I wish you much peace, love, and joy in 2010. Happy New Year!
PS: It just wouldn’t be right not to post a recipe, so here is an oldie but a goodie. A homemade version of the famous Girl Scout Cookies, Do-Si-Dos, I present to you Oatmeal Peanut Butter Cookie Sandwiches. Enjoy!
